Internal medicine

Our internal medicine referral service is run by Florence Juvet, Valerie Lamb, Andrea Di Bellia (specialists in small animal internal medicine) and Darren Kelly, who is working towards his specialism under their close supervision. They are supported by a dedicated team of veterinary nurses and interns.

Florence Juvet

Florence qualified from the University of Lyon, France in 2002. This was followed by an internship in Lyon and several years in small animal practice in the UK and abroad.

Florence completed a 3 year residency at University College, Dublin in 2009. She achieved the European Diploma in Small Animal Internal Medicine in 2010 and is a European Specialist in Small Animal Internal Medicine.

Florence has a wide interest in all aspects of small animal medicine, particularly endoscopy, gastrointestinal disease, urinary tract disorders, endocrinology and infectious diseases.

Valerie Lamb

After graduating from Edinburgh Vet School in 1996, Valerie spent 11 years working in small animal practice before undertaking an internship at Dick White Referrals. She has completed a three year residency in small animal medicine at Glasgow Vet School where her research interests included evaluating the acute phase protein response in cats being treated with radioiodine for hyperthyroidism. Valerie passed her European Diploma in Small Animal Internal Medicine in 2016.

Andrea Di Bella

Andrea qualified in Turin University in 1994, where he owned his own small animal practice in Italy for several years. Andrea moved to UK in 2004 for an internship in a private referral (VRCC) in Essex followed by a residency in internal medicine at the same institution. During his residency Andrea gained the RCVS Certificate in small animal medicine.

After completing his residency Andrea worked for referral practices in Kent and Glasgow and for IDEXX laboratories. Andrea gained the European Diploma in internal medicine in 2014.

Andrea's main areas of interest are haematology and hepatology, although he enjoys all aspects in medicine.

Andrea

Darren Kelly

Darren graduated from University College Dublin in 2015. During his degree, he developed a strong interest in Internal Medicine, Neurology and Emergency and Critical Care. Having completed a 1 year rotating internship, Darren decided to pursue specialisation in Internal Medicine. While interested in all aspects of companion animal medicine, his particular interests include haematology, endocrinology and emergency and critical care medicine.
