It makes the job we do worthwhile, when we hear some of the lovely words our clients say...
"Our 6 year old yellow Labrador is now 4 months post his second hip replacement for dysplasia at SCVS with Harry Scott and Phil Witte. He has had a superb result in terms of complete resolution of his pain, full restoration of function with full range of motion, strength and symmetry. The entire experience at SCVS from reception to assessment to surgery to nursing and physio was outstanding. The professional skill, the facilities and the efficiency were fantastic. Above all, everyone there was clearly an animal person in the way that they interacted with him. The staff all engaged with him very personally and were happy to share information requested with us. I would highly recommend this practice to anyone with a small animal needing specialist care. It doesn’t get any better than SCVS!"
"The Cardiology treatment our dog Max received from Stephen Collins was first class in every way. Max totally trusted Stephen which meant that the surgical procedures he received were relaxed for him. I would totally recommend SCVS, all the staff we met had the perfect balance of professional kindness, compassion and empathy."
"Hi, It is 2 years since my Rottie had the second of his cruciate repairs with you, I thought you may like to know the longer term result of his operations. The surgery has truly given Rocky his life back, he enjoys 3 walks a day, runs, plays ball and generally enjoys life. We have had no problems since his recovery, no limping or signs of discomfort. The only concession I made was after slowly building up his walking time to make sure we didn't over walk, an hour being his longest now. At almost 7, he is by nature becoming more of a gentle plodder as opposed to a bouncer, and has matured into the most lovely dog. Without his ops he would have had a painful life and perhaps not be with me now. Please pass on our gratitude to the team at Southern Counties, I hope they will be pleased to know how successful Rockys surgery has been."
"Dear Harry scott and all of the neurolgy team at couthern counties. I wanted to write this letter to thank all neurology team nurses and staff for all your care and help with my puppy Mishka (Chihuahua) who was referred to you last month.
Mishka is my first ver puppy and after such a tragic accident I couldn't have wished for her to have been in better hands.
Your staff were very helpful with all aspects of her accident including paperwork and helping me understand her injury, not only were all your team professional but it gave me great confidence knowing that every time I phoned to see how she was doing all the nurses and staff knew who she was and were very detailed in how things were.
It was so nice to feel you all cared for Mishka like she was your own and as she is such a nervous little dog all the love and care she was given by your nurses really helped her to recover.
She has bounced back to her normal self and is currently doing really well and we're very much hoping that no more seizures will occur.
Your practice is outstanding not only is it very clean and tidy but also very welcoming and the staff you have during the day and night shifts are all professional and very caring people.
I would recommend Southern Counties to anyone."
"I just wanted to give you an update on Branston since he had TPLO surgery in April this year. Branston would never really swim he didn’t like his legs not being on the floor but since the operation he is a different dog. He swims and loves being in the sea he enjoys long walks now and doesn’t lay down all the time. My wife and I would just like to say a very big thank you to the team there, Branston is now a very happy dog and it such a joy to watch him running about and swimming in a way that he never did. I would have no hesitation in recommending you or your teams services to anyone, you have made such a difference to Branston’s life that I would never believe was possible he does have a new lease of life."
I entered my internship programme with the desire to improve professionally and the hope that it would provide the next step in my career path and I have been overwhelmed with the opportunity that I have discovered in working within such an accomplished and welcoming veterinary team. The infectious enthusiasm for the veterinary profession and fantastic patient care at SCVS has been the most rewarding experience in my career so far.
"I love the fact that you obviously love animals and it shows. I also appreciated being able to call any time and not feel like I was a nuisance. Thank you so much!"
"Dear SCVS team,
This testimonial is long overdue, sorry, but it is still utterly heartfelt!
In January 2014, our German Shepherd, Finnbarr underwent hip replacement surgery for hip dysplasia, when he was just 3 years old.
The results have been astonishing. It is clear he feels like a new dog, from the amount of exercise, play and competitive obedience training he is now able to cope with, with ease. He is so much happier in every aspect of his life, happy to run and play with other dogs (where before, he was reserved and cautious), happy to jump in and out of the car, leap up stairs, swim etc,.
The operation and his recovery were a very worrying time for us but we were so reassured by the excellent level of communication from the SCVS team. On his return home, we used the 24 hour helpline several times and they always gave us good, practical advice and support. A few weeks later on, Donna and her physiotherapy team were superb and Finney soon started to love his twice weekly trips to the underwater treadmill!
The follow up yearly check was also excellent with Mr Nicolson. It was very thorough and reassuring.
If anyone is worrying about going ahead with such major surgery for their dog, we would say to them to go ahead with SCVS, your dog will be in excellent hands and it will have a new lease of life afterwards.
With all our grateful thanks,"
